Babbling Brooks

I have read his previous book " Predictably Irrational: The Hidden Forces That Shape Our Decisions" by Dan before and I have always admired how Dan goes about researching a theme or an aspect and the variations he puts in to measure the influence of related variables. Also what makes his writing interesting is a hidden humor (may it's his inherent quality). This is my second book of his that I am reading and I have listened to his few speeches and on all of them he touches upon the accident that resulted in sever fire-burns and I assume every one who knows Dan knows that he survived a fire accident.  Now my interest on the topic comes from my quest in life to become more honest and sincere not only within myself but also with others. My notes below reflect my learning and ideas that I would still want to ponder upon further.  Learning about SMORC - Simple Model of Rational Crime surprised me that there is science behind our intentional acts of dishonesty. I will keep this among the legendary Biographies like Steve Jobs and DR Kalam. This isn't really a biography but I take it as an interim account of Amazon and Mr Bezos. As many would hope I guess Amazon and all the numerous initiatives that Jeff is exploring would result in a few more successes and future accomplishments will warrant a bigger edition of this book or the next part of this. I think Brad has put it very interestingly and it's amazing that an outsider could gather this much about a corporation and the key people that helped shape it. Though I am not onboard with "someone who calls himself as Sadhguru" type practice, I never was able to come up with a logical anti-argument on any points/ideas that Mr Jaggi brings about in his speech and interviews. Infact there are many points for which, I could only get logical explanations from Mr Jaggi on some of the preached practices in India. The most recent example was "why beef eating is seen as a less-human act" and his explanation to that kind of made sense. One idea that I could never buy into whole-heartedly, was this concept of  "Inner Engineering". Due to the lack of knowledge or lack of evidence that it would work and it's a viable practice. I was keenly following on this topic, as frankly I fancy being able to sit in a place, controlling and cultivating my inner energies for hours not knowing the time is passing by. First and the foremost, I like several of my friends (with whom I had the chance to discuss this topic), always learned history at school with the sole purpose of scoring and getting a higher GPA. This isn't a review rather my reading notes and thoughts that arouse when I read this.  Overall it's an enlightening and easy read and gives us (the readers) loads of methods and tools e.g. Grit score Matrix to help us improve on the subject area. In the cases were people who score handsomely in SAT can be less gritty. How can this happen? What happens to their grittiness when they are prepare for the SAT ? Could it be that they didn't prepare with Interest and Purpose? Angela quotes Harvard psychologist William James "The plain fact remains that men the world over possess amounts of resource which only very exceptional individuals push to their extremes of use".
