Toronto District School Board : Temporary Foreign workers children school admissions

It is little know and often forgotten practice / requirement that in Ontario(Canada) temporary foreign workers or the people who have temporary resident status with a valid work permit have to personally visit Toronto District School Board(TDSB) http://www.tdsb.on.ca/office and get an approval letter for our kids to avail/continue education in TDSB schools.

The documents you need to carry:
Passport of Father, Mother and the student[orignials]
Workpermit, Visitor records for Father, Mother and the student[originals]
Proof of residence for the Father and Mother[it needs to be a bill, bank statement for the current or the last month, they don';t accept driver's license but they accept letter from employer, recently issued]

Couple of years back the schools used to insist on this letter and they ask the students to get his from the TDSB office; now a days some schools are taking the parent's work permit copy by themselves and say that that is good enough and a letter from TDSB isn't necessary. Please note that if you call TDSB they still insist that we need to get this letter and more importantly in this process of issuing a letter they ensure that they update their records that you availed the TDSB schooling for your kid. Please remember to do this, once you renew your work permit too.

This office is at
5050 Yonge Street
Toronto, Ontario
M2N 5N8

Their helpline for temp resident parents is : (416)395-2880
There is an email tisp@tdsb.on.ca but I tried and didn't get a response.

Wings of Fire – Dr APJ Abdul Kalam’s Autobiography - Reading notes

This is an Autobiography  by one of the India`s most celebrated scientists and leaders, who has a tremendous following across all different age groups especially India`s youngsters. It may lack the literary flamboyance   of   an eminent author; it may not meet the standards   that a literary critic would weigh in on , but it leaves you glued to the life   of  a boat owner’s son, his passion towards rocketry, science , his career struggle through the red-tape clad ladders   of   the Indian Bureaucracy which aligns itself with the journey   of   India's technology advancement and self-reliance in the field of Rocketry and nuclear defence capabilities. It draws you into an aura of amazement and wonder when you read through the indescribable sense   of   accomplishment at the peak period   of   Mr. Kalam’s life and sometime make you feel that they are your(reader’s) accomplishments and that`s the indisputable success fa...

Reading notes - When breath becomes air

This is the first book that made me tear up as I was reading through in multiple instances. I could be easily moved emotionally using some visual media but for the first time I felt I was emotionally moved as I read through the printed passages. This reflects how eloquent Paul Kalanithi is and perhaps being a quadragenerian father I could relate easily and realistically to some of the real moments Paul has gone through that he has wrote about in this book. He gives no room for you to wonder, how come a Neurosurgeon can be so eloquent in his writing style, choice of words, rich anecdotes from some of the best known literary works, as he gives you a clear view of his childhood, adolescence and his college/university days where he learnt literature. Aside from all the medical jargon, I kept looking at the dictionary for so many words and the list was long : Compendium, Apostasy, Lowbrow, Macaques , Idylls ,Speck like,Talus,Cusp,Wailing ,Coiffed,Sinew,Formaldehyde ,Fa...
